The Interpretive Center is perched on a bluff overlooking the Cedar River Valley and commands a powerful view of Hartman Reserve's natural beauty. Its tranquil atmosphere is further enhanced by a small pond and a web of trails and bridges that connect it with the rest of the forest.
With a crackling fire set in a rustic fireplace and an open kitchen on the far side, the Interpretive Center's east wing can accommodate up to 100 people. This makes it an ideal size for business meetings and small receptions. A smaller amphitheater may also be used. Projector screens, overheads and DVD/VCR can be made available upon request. Tableware can also be provided to discourage the use of disposable cups and plates.
If you are looking for a natural touch for your wedding or special event, Hartman Reserve's Interpretive Center is the perfect location for you. The natural rustic look of the building adds to your event, not to mention the endless photo opportunities throughout the forest.
All facilities at Hartman Reserve Nature Center are handicapped-accessible.
The west wing is open for visitors to browse through the many hands-on exhibits which help to explain the local environment. All visitors are welcome to take advantage of the natural surroundings by exploring our network of trails.

If you are looking for a small and affordable facility with a beautiful view, this is the place! Tucked away in the middle of Hartman Reserve's scenic upland forest, this building offers a cozy atmosphere for meetings, retreats, weddings, and receptions.
The 900 square foot multipurpose room seats approximately 40-50 people and includes a fully furnished kitchen with tableware provided. The center is heated, air conditioned, and contains folding tables and chairs along with an audio/video system. For those chilly winter time events, a rustic wood burning stove is located on the south wall. The center is fully accessible for persons with disabilities.
The program center also contains a carpeted loft and the Sugar Shack, either of which provides an excellent area for additional meeting space.
