The Nature Center
This building was originally constructed in 1941. It serves as base for summer camps and school field trips. Educational displays provide a glimpse of what to look for when visiting Hartman Reserve. The Nature Center is perched on a bluff overlooking the Cedar River Valley and commands a powerful view of Hartman Reserve's natural beauty. Its tranquil atmosphere is further enhanced by a small pond and a web of trails and bridges that connect it with the rest of the forest. |
Boat Ramp
Launch your boat or canoe on the Cedar River. Lots of room to maneuver and park your vehicle. Also a great place to park and explore Hartman's North Unit on foot or bike. This is where groups such as trail tram riders meet. The trail tram also finishes at this location. |
Lucy's Meadow
A reconstructed prairie that adjoins an open woodland. This gradual change from full sun to shaded woodland mimics natural forest to prairie interfaces. |
