Field Trip Pricing

Private Programming

Private programming prices apply to non-school groups, such as scout groups, family groups, homeschool groups, civic groups, etc. The cost for any activity is $40/hour. Keep in mind, depending on the activity/activities chosen and the number of participants, there may be a minimum time frame to accomplish that activity. For more details and to schedule, contact us directly at kklus@co.black-hawk.ia.us.

Schools

Packages

Option A: 2 outreach visits and a field trip (up to 2 hrs): $90
Option B: 3 outreach visits and a field trip (up to 3 hrs): $150
Option C: 4 outreach visits and a field trip (up to 4 hrs): $215
Option D: 5 outreach visits and a field trip (up to 5 hrs): $280
Outreach Visits: An outreach visit is when a Hartman Naturalist(s) comes to your school/building/etc to give a presentation to one classroom/section (up to 1 hour).
Field Trip: A field trip is when the school/group/etc comes to Hartman Reserve or a place outside of their school/building/etc and a Hartman Naturalist(s) presents a program(s).

Example: Ms. Smith is a 5th grade teacher at Earth Elementary. She teaches 1 section of 5th graders. She would like a Hartman Naturalist to come to visit all 3 sections of 5th graders at Earth Elementary.  Ms. Smith would also like for all the 5th grade students to go canoeing at Big Woods Lake, which would be led by a Hartman Naturalist. Ms. Smith would choose Package B. This would provide each section of 5th Graders at Earth Elementary a visit to their classrooms (up to 1 hour) and a final field trip at the end of the year (Note: The field trip doesn’t have to happen after the outreach program(s). It can be scheduled at any time [pending Naturalist availability]).

The Field Trip Trust

You may be eligible for a 50% reduced price. Please let us know if your school has 50% or more of students receiving free or reduced lunch.

A la Carte

  • 30 minute: $15 (This is only for PreK/Daycare groups)
  • Up to 3 hr. field trip: $30/hr
  • Over 3 hr. field trip: $35/hr

Customized Programming

If there is a particular subject that you would like us to provide, the Hartman staff would be more than willing to work with you to develop a
“tailor-made” program!

Bookkeeping Notes

All Outreaches and Field Trips included in a package are valid for the length of 1 school year. If an outreach or field trip is not scheduled within that time frame, the school/teacher forfeits that program. Example: Ms. Smith has to schedule all her outreach programs and field trip in 1 school year
(August 2019-May 2020).
