Hartman Reserve Nature Center offers nature programming for preschools, elementary, middle, and high schools, church groups, scout groups, civic groups, etc. Your group can come to the Nature Center, Naturalists can come to your site to provide programming, or Naturalists can meet your group at a nearby natural area. Most programs are hands-on and interactive. For programs costs, please click here.

Classroom Educators! Hartman Reserve has paired most of its programs to the current NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) Performance Standards. Create a Program
If there is a particular subject that you would like us to provide, the Hartman staff would be more than willing to work with you to develop a “tailor-made” program!

Rod and Reel Checkout Site
Hartman Reserve partners with the Iowa DNR (Dept. of Natural Resources) to offer free fishing poles available for checkout. To check a fishing pole out, please contact Katie at kklus@co.black-hawk.ia.us or 319-277-2187.

Open every day from
​sunrise to sunset. Free to use.

OUTDOOR-ACCESSIBLE RESTROOM
The restroom on the south side of the building is open every day from
​sunrise to sunset.
