2019 Hartman Visiting Artist
The Hartman Reserve Visiting Artist for 2019 was Cayli Graham! The HRVA selection committee was impressed with Cayli's proposal---here's an excerpt:
"Through this project, I would be eager to learn more about the species that make up the ecosystem of the Hartman Reserve, both native and invasive. My greatest interest will be in the species that are endangered, threatened, and extinct due to human activity. I would like to learn and share some history of these species and the human impacts on them throughout time. I strongly believe that strengthening the relationship between us and the natural world is crucial at this time. I greatly desire a better understanding of the environment and to share what I have learned with others."
Cayli explored Hartman and was involved with several activities, including plein air painting. She was able to come into the Interpretive Center to share what she had learned. The culmination of Cayli's visits were on display at Waterloo Center for the Arts and Hearst Center for the Arts last year.
